Effective Conversations
There is a small amount of pre-work to complete before the workshop:
Take some time to reflect before the workshop and consider:
- Think of a person you need to have a difficult conversation with. Picture the person and outline the issue
- Think of your own previous experiences of receiving feedback – how do they influence your attitude to giving feedback?
- Have a topic ready for the workshop that you would like to be coached on
Post work:
After this session we would like you to embed the learning and:
- Have the conversation with the person you identified, using HIP and AID
- Set the intention of listening at an active and deep level in your meetings next week
- Afterwards, reflect on what you got from the experience of really listening to your colleagues. What do you know now?
- How has this impacted the relationship?
- Who do you really need to listen to next?
- Complete a coaching conversation – reflect on it and decide which of the skills you want to hone: listening, questioning, rapport building? Plan the next one!
