Lesson 3 of 5

Day Three

Effective Conversations

Take some time to reflect before the workshop and consider:

  • Think of a person you need to have a difficult conversation with. Picture the person and outline the issue
  • Think of your own previous experiences of receiving feedback – how do they influence your attitude to giving feedback?
  • Have a topic ready for the workshop that you would like to be coached on
  • Have the conversation with the person you identified, using HIP and AID
  • Set the intention of listening at an active and deep level in your meetings next week
  • Afterwards, reflect on what you got from the experience of really listening to your colleagues. What do you know now?
  • How has this impacted the relationship?
  • Who do you really need to listen to next?
  • Complete a coaching conversation – reflect on it and decide which of the skills you want to hone: listening, questioning, rapport building? Plan the next one!
